A “Bloom” ing idea

Here’s an idea that marries the neighborhood ice cream truck or hot dog stand with flowers.

Mrs. Bloom’s Mobile will come to your office, party or other event with a variety of bouquets for sale ($10 to $30). Best of all, a portion of the sales go to charity.

It all began a few years ago with “Friday Flowers,” a program of Mrs. Bloom’s Direct, a Westchester-based importer and distributor of fresh-cut flowers from around the world. (We at WAG, the beneficiaries of flame-colored roses and white hydrangeas, can attest to the excellent quality.) “Friday’s Flowers” made its way to various office buildings and corporate parks, benefitting Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla. Now the number of charitable recipients has grown to include Stamford Hospital’s Bennett Cancer Center, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Food Bank for Westchester and PAWS (Pet Animal Welfare Society) in Connecticut.

And that’s just the beginning. Founders (and brothers) Oren and Ari Shapiro have plans to expand into franchises.

You could say the idea has blossomed.
