Seth MacFarlane made fun of him on “Saturday Night Live,” and GQ voted him one of the 25 least influential people of 2012, but you know what? Ryan Lochte recently won eight medals, six of them gold, at the FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships in Istanbul. Guess his intense workout, which we followed in WAG (February through July), has indeed paid off.
Even better: Lochte gave away some of the medals, as is his custom, to children at the meet. Seems that when he was young, he was snubbed by an unnamed Olympian whose autograph he sought.
Hey, McFarlane, GQ: How many medals did you win? Oh, that’s right. You didn’t compete. ’Cause you’re not a swimmer who has 11 Olympic medals and a generous heart.
