A winning pair in Cold Spring

A new exhibition at Gallery 66NY in Cold Spring puts the spotlight on artists Bob Madden and Karen Madden.

When WAG was last in Cold Spring, we stopped into Gallery 66NY.

As shared here, we were delighted to see the latest from past WAG subject Carla Goldberg, among other artists, but also had a lovely chat with stone sculptor Bob Madden, who was manning the gallery on that particular afternoon.

We not only discussed the current shows, but he told us the next would be a joint show of his own work and that of his wife, fiber artist Karen Madden.

And indeed, “Of the Earth” opens Friday, July 7 – the reception is set from 6 to 9 p.m. – and continues through July 30.

Here are just a few of the details he sent us:

“Married for over 30 years, the Maddens have travelled extensively around the world through Europe, Asia, South America and have drawn inspiration from many exotic locations including Iceland, Hawaii and Easter Island. Their respective art forms of fiber and stone give them very different perspectives on the world and have in the past led to interesting cooperative and collaborative works and shows. For this show, ‘Of the Earth,’ the Maddens have each created an entirely new set of works displaying and embodying a spirit of reverence and awe for the planet.”

Gallery 66NY is at 66 Main St.
