All’s Fair at the Garden

It’s time once again for a WAG fave – the New York Botanical Garden’s Antique Garden Furniture Fair.

One of our favorite events hits the area this weekend. The New York Botanical Garden’s 2017 Antique Garden Furniture Fair: Antiques for the Garden and the Garden Room is on view Friday, May 5 through Sunday, May 7, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bronson van Wyck, designer chairman for this year’s Fair, has created a design based on Édouard Manet’s seminal painting “Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe” (“The Luncheon on the Grass”).

The Fair is a must for leading collectors and designers, as well as purchasers seeking advice from professionals. Included are outdoor sculpture, fountains, sundials, birdbaths, gates, garden benches, antique wicker, urns, planters, botanical prints and architectural ornaments, displaying centuries of classic design inspiration gathered from America, Europe and Asia. These antiques are not only great for the garden but also for the garden room.

We love to drink in all the neoclassical statuary and botanical prints, then hit the Pine Tree Café for butternut squash or carrot ginger soup and the shop for small red and green cactuses.

This year, we’ll take in the magical Dale Chihuly glass sculpture show as well.
