Dazzling with a little cosmetic help

It’s the little things that count. With the holidays just around the corner, many of us are so focused on others that we forget about ourselves. There are a number of smaller treatments and procedures that are available that can fit into this season, and it seems appropriate to review some of them at this time. If recovery and downtime are critical concerns, the best approach to consider are the so-called lunchtime treatments, consisting of micropeels, relaxants and fillers. All are relatively fast treatments that do not require anesthesia, and we’ll review each in turn.

A special day in a special month

Sadly, national statistics show that seven out of 10 women diagnosed with breast cancer are never told about their breast reconstruction options, despite the fact that multiple research studies have demonstrated that breast reconstruction can be critical in improving the quality of life for women with this disease. To help raise awareness of this problem, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and our national spokesperson, Jewel, are partnering to promote Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day on Oct. 17.

Not for women only

The latest and most exciting trend in plastic surgery is not a particular procedure or a new approach but a new demographic. Men are beginning to embrace the concept of cosmetic surgery in numbers never previously seen, and the procedures they are interested in have started to change as well.
