‘Castles’ opens its doors

Tickets will be available through May 20 for an annual event that’s become a favorite for local design and architecture fans.

The 12th “Castles of New Castle” House Tour, to be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 21, will again offer entry to a handful of homes featuring unique historical, architectural or decorative elements.

The event is sponsored by and for the benefit of The New Castle Historical Society. The society, with headquarters in the Horace Greeley House Museum in Chappaqua, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of New Castle. All proceeds raised from this event help the Society to fulfill its mission of historical discovery, education, community outreach and research.

Tickets are $75 ($50 for members), available through the society website or at the Greeley House, 100 King St. A selection of restaurants will offer a 15 percent discount on lunch to those with house-tour tickets.
