‘Dancing’ the night away

Ellen Crane, a Dobbs Ferry-based photographer, is often inspired by movement, with a selection of her work devoted to depicting dancers in motion.

A group of her images is on display this month at Gallery 66 NY in Cold Spring. “Improvisations,” which features work inspired by dance and music, also includes art by Jennifer Woolcock Schwartz.

WAG stopped by the opening reception June 3, getting the chance to catch up with Crane and also meet Caitlin Trainor, the artistic director of Trainor Dance. Three of Crane’s works in the show feature images captured during her collaboration with the New York-based dance troupe.

We plan to feature Crane in our August issue, so stay tuned. In the meantime, the exhibition continues through June 26 at the gallery, 66 Main St.
