Wrangler – the Guiding Eyes for the Blind puppy being raised on the “Today” show – will be on hand March 29 as Via Vanti! Restaurant & Gelateria in Mount Kisco hosts its second annual “Dining in the Dark” event from 1 to 4 p.m. to support the organization.

If this sounds familiar, you’re a sharp reader – this event was featured in our newsletter a few weeks ago. Snow, though, caused it to be re-scheduled from March 1.

So, once again, here are the details:

The unique “blind dining” experience includes a five-course tasting menu plus gelato. Guests will be offered blindfolds to test just how discriminating their palates are, with prizes awarded to the diners with the most discerning taste buds.
“We received so much positive feedback from last year’s event, we knew we had to do it again,” says Via Vanti! owner Carla Gambescia. “This year we are offering a different delicious menu with interesting harmonious flavors and flavor contrasts, textures and aromas to heighten the mindfulness of the diners. Not only is ‘Dining in the Dark’ a fun and unique experience, it’s also for a great cause.”
For someone without sight, a Guiding Eyes dog is a priceless, life-changing gift providing independence, companionship and mobility. Headquartered in Yorktown Heights, Guiding Eyes for the Blind provides guide dogs, professional training and follow-up support services to people with vision loss at no cost to them, depending solely on contributions to fulfill its mission. Additionally, Guiding Eyes places specially trained service dogs with children on the autism spectrum through its Heeling Autism program.
“We are excited for the opportunity to raise awareness of our mission by partnering with Via Vanti!” says Becky Barnes, Guiding Eyes’ manager of consumer relations and graduate support. “I love being able to share the experience of savoring delicious food without vision.”

“Dining in the Dark” is $75 per person. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Via Vanti! Restaurant & Gelateria is at 2 Kirby Plaza. For more information or to reserve your space, contact Via Vanti! at 914-666-6400 or visit viavanti.com.
