For WAG’s April “Animal Passion” issue, I consider The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s upcoming “China: Through the Looking Glass” exhibit (May 7-Aug. 16), particularly its sinuous dragon motifs.
But the dragon, which has had a universal appeal since ancient times (think St. George slaying the dragon, or “Puff, the Magic Dragon”) also figures in the scaly jewelry of Hong Kong-based Bao Bao Wan, a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, and John Hardy.
WAG caught up with Hardy creative director/head designer Guy Bedarida for our December “Power Brokers” issue and discovered that the dragons in Hardy’s Naga Collection can be fierce or protective. http://www.wagmag.com/hale-n-hardy/
