Getting away at The Time

Just a few blocks from the bustling Tappan Zee Bridge on the edge of Nyack sits The Time Nyack, a 133-room loft-style hotel just off the New York State Thruway. The boutique lodge serves as a serene oasis, with plush seating dotting the entryway and trendy, eye-catching decor lining the walls.

Though the former factory warehouse at 400 High Avenue was transformed into a cutting-edge hotel, elements including industrial light fixtures, exposed pipes and rustic wooden beams pay homage to the structure’s bygone life.

The upscale hotel, which opened its doors in May of last year, is also home to BV’s Grill. An offshoot of the popular New York City eatery, the restaurant features a wooden bar with large-screen televisions that sits adjacent to a cozy dining room complete with white linen tablecloths and oversized black-and-white portraits.

A recent visit found WAG rushing inside the restaurant’s inviting space to find refuge from the blustery winds of New York’s winter. We were welcomed swiftly with cocktails – we reveled in a delectable a pumpkin pie white Russian – and an array of appetizers. Crispy fish tacos served with guacamole and salsa were a particular standout, with pickled onions offering an unexpected delight. Calamari was artfully presented and tossed in a sweet chili sauce that provided just the right amount of a spicy kick.

For our main course, horseradish crusted salmon is paired with creamy shiitake mashed potatoes and drizzled with red pepper coulis. An expertly cooked double-cut pork chop with a bourbon maple glaze sits atop goose fat-roasted potatoes. A variety of side dishes range from a basket of crispy and crunchy onion rings to grilled asparagus, brussel sprouts and mushrooms.

Dessert options are just as varied and equally as tasty. Our favorites include a warm apple strudel topped with vanilla gelato and paired with a caramel glaze and a plate of scrumptious New York-style cheesecake.

Whether you’re looking for a quick bite or an extended stay, BV’s Grill at The Time Nyack’s eclectic, yet comforting, ambiance – and menu to match – provide for the perfect getaway.
