Glam on the go

A recent fashion show at Neiman Marcus Westchester offered tips on how to travel in style.

Just because you’re on vacation, doesn’t mean you have to let your fashion guard down. Recently, Neiman Marcus held a travel style show in conjunction with Courtyard Travel Ltd., Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Wendy Sue Knecht, author of “Life, Love and a Hijacking: My Pan Am Memoir.” Representatives from Eileen Fisher, Kobi Halperin, Lafayette 148 and La Petite Robe offered hot spring looks – lots of layering and white, pops of yellow and the eternal moto jacket. Of particular fascination were filigree capes, sweaters and jackets that suggested an airy feel and wider, cropped pants whose shorter legs mimicked skirt hems with kick pleats and ruffles.

Knecht presented tips for traveling light and right:

  1. Employ the rule of threes in selecting your travel wardrobe – three bottoms, three tops for each bottom.
  2. Wear your heaviest items on getaway day so you don’t have to pack them. This would probably mean your jeans and your boots.
  3. In your carry-on, place the heaviest items on the bottom. Fit lighter rolled items around these, like pieces of a puzzle. Keep your PJs on top for jumping into for a quick nap once you arrive at the hotel.
  4. In your under-the-seat bag, keep your must-haves – jewelry, devices, makeup, medications and, last but never least, hand wipes.

Sounds like we’re good to go.
