Guilt-free chocolate from JoJo’s

JoJo’s Chocolate offers a dark-chocolate bark designed to help beat sugar cravings.

Here at WAG we are often asked to sample new products. Over time, these have ranged from wines to marshmallows, ice creams to cakes… yes, we know, tough job and all that.

After awhile, you get a bit skeptical, as we have occasionally tasted some things we wish we hadn’t.

So when we heard about JoJo’s Chocolate, we were interested if a bit hesitant – but the backstory had us paying attention.

Jodie (JoJo) Jones, diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, wanted to try and turn her health around. Determined to kick her sugar cravings, she began to create a recipe for 70-percent dark-chocolate bark using healthy, antioxidant-rich dried cranberries, raw almonds and raw pistachios.

The result, JoJo’s Chocolate Bark, is billed as the first chocolate bar with added protein (5 grams). Soon a hit among her friends, she and her son Sterling then committed to bring the product to a wider audience, helping Americans reduce their sugar intake. (The bars contain half the sugar of a traditional protein bar). The bar is also paleo-friendly, gluten-free and soy-free.

We tried the samples sent to us, and the reviews were uniformly positive. We may have found our new favorite snack.

A one-week “supply” – seven bars – sells for $13.99.
