Hollywood in Hyde Park

The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra will offer an evening devoted to Hollywood movie classics Feb. 3.

Here’s the latest from the Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra, which offers performances on the campus of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park:

“The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra (NDSO) will perform a collection of Hollywood’s most iconic scores and spotlight the talents of Master Sgt. MaryKay Messenger, the premier vocalist for the United States Military Academy Band at West Point. The concert will feature compositions from ‘Titanic,’ Disney favorites and Henry Mancini and will also include ballads like ‘Swinging on a Star,’ ‘Moon River’ and ‘Shadow of Your Smile.’ NDSO will highlight the evening with a screening of the silent film ‘The Immigrant’ (1917), starring Charlie Chaplin and original music by Ben Model. Experience the show on Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. in the Marriott Pavilion at The Culinary Institute of America.

“To complement this evening of nostalgic music, the CIA will open the Caterina de’ Medici restaurant for a special $39 pre-performance dining experience. The menu will include family-style Caesar salad and antipasti, a selection of five gourmet pastas served tableside and a dessert. Reservations for this pre-performance dinner are available from 5 to 6:15 p.m. The $39 excludes beverages service charge, and tax. To book your table, call 845-905-4533 or email ciarestaurantgroup@culinary.edu. This special dining event will sell out, so please make reservations early.

“Tickets for the concert are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $5 for students. A reserved seating package is now available and includes choice of show seating and guaranteed seating at the Caterina de’ Medici restaurant for $45 per person (does not include $39 for dinner).”
