More from Marcy…

Marcy B. Freedman, the Croton-on-Hudson performance artist, will make her debut in the Katonah Art Stroll.

Veteran Westchester performance artist Marcy B. Freedman – and longtime WAG favorite – is set to join the lineup of special events at the next edition of the Katonah Art Stroll, scheduled for July 20.

From 5 to 8 p.m., the Croton-on-Hudson artist will be seated in the Gazebo, at the intersection of Katonah Avenue and Jay Street, inviting members of the public to experience her interactive performance.

Those who stop and engage in conversation with Freedman as part of “If you love dogs or cookies…” will be thanked with what she calls “appropriate gifts.”

Freedman has shared her motivation as follows: “For more than a decade, I have been presenting interactive performances. These old-fashioned conversations – without screens – remind us all of the beauty and power of face-to-face interaction.”

Freedman, who does not own a smartphone, adds that she is happy to call her work, “an antidote to virtual forms of communication, such as email, texting and social media.”

The Katonah Art Stroll will feature a kick-off event at 4 p.m. at the Katonah Museum of Art and when the museum closes at 5 continue with more than a dozen shops and galleries along Katonah Avenue participating.

For more on her performance, contact Freedman at mbf@bestweb.net or 914-271-5891; for more on the Art Stroll, visit katonahchamber.org.
