On a vintage note

Those with a love for all things old – especially those of an ephemeral nature – will want to mark March 20-22 on their calendars.

That’s when Ephemera 35 – International International Vintage Paper Fair & Conference, a one-of-a-kind exhibition of vintage paper and ephemera collectibles, returns to the Hyatt Regency Greenwich in Old Greenwich.

Ephemera, a popular collecting segment, generally refers to paper items that were originally meant to be discarded after use but instead were saved and now take on historic, artistic and (sometimes) monetary value.

The show, which will feature exhibitors from around the world showing items such as posters, catalogs, postcards, political propaganda and sheet music, is designed to attract treasure hunters, collectors and history enthusiasts alike.

In addition to the browsing (and buying) opportunities, the fair will include conferences, talks and presentations throughout the weekend.

This year’s featured exhibition, “The Sporting Life,” will spotlight a variety of sports, games, pastimes and other forms of recreational entertainment as seen through historical ephemera.

The event, hosted by The Ephemera Society of America, will include a conference on Friday and fair Saturday and Sunday. The hotel is at 1800 E. Putnam Ave. (Route 1).
