Russell Ritell to exhibit in Beacon

Hudson Valley painter Russell Ritell is featured this month at bau Gallery in Beacon.

WAG recently met Hudson Valley painter Russell Ritell for a story that will appear in our January issue.

Ritell, who works out of a Cold Spring studio, has been working for nearly 20 years as a designer/animator. But our focus was on his paintings, work that will be exhibited this month in Beacon as part of “Natural Selection,” at the bau Gallery.

Here’s how advance materials have described the exhibition, curated by Ritell:

“The subject of the work featured in ‘Natural Selection’ centers around metaphors and interpretations, relationships to the natural world or mutations of natural subjects. The various artists selected for this exhibit are specialized and evolved, open to experimentation within, (and outside), their respective mediums.

“Russell Ritell, Herman Roggeman, Meghan Spiro, Laianna Ferruggia, Jerika Broussard, Melissa Robin, Jack Rusinek and Lindsey Buckley are local Hudson Valley creatives, exhibiting together at bau Gallery to create this unique show.”

The show opens with a reception set for Dec. 8.
