Square Peg Gallery takes a ‘Pilgrimage’

WAG introduced its readers to Square Peg Gallery in November with a profile in our “Celebrating the Arts” issue devoted to the Hastings-on-Hudson arts destination and its owners, Mairead Daly-Diep and Ben Diep.

The gallery will begin its 2017 schedule this week with “Pilgrimage.” There’s a reception 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6 for this multimedia installation, which features video, audio and photography by james dean conklin of Hastings-on-Hudson and photography by Nancy Jo Johnson of Yonkers. At the reception, Zen Buddhist monk Maarten Olthof will talk about his walking pilgrimage through India and Nepal and his efforts to reestablish this Buddhist tradition, as described in his book, “Go Without Fear,” and documented by conklin.

A full schedule of exhibition-related programming is also planned.
