The London Philharmonic Orchestra makes its Connecticut debut with an evening of unforgettable masterpieces by three great composers at Stamford’s Palace Theatre on Tuesday, April 16, 8 p.m.
Ludwig van Beethoven’s magisterial “Egmont” Overture sets the scene, then violinist James Ehnes joins the orchestra to perform Jean Sibelius’s atmospheric Violin Concerto. Finally it’s Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, with its haunting, martial echoes of his song cycle “Songs of a Wayfarer.”
