This side of paradise

There’s more Modernism on view at Purchase College’s Richard & Dolly Maass Gallery in “Julie Langsam: Revisiting Paradise” (through March 21). Langsam’s graphite drawings and watercolors, which evoke both the Bauhaus and Surrealism, address the college’s Modern architecture and its utopian ideals. There’s a Q and A with Langsam and Cole Akers, curator and special projects manager of the Philip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan, at 6:30 p.m. March 13 in the college’s Visual Arts Building, Room 1016. The college is on Anderson Hill Road between Purchase and King streets, opposite PepsiCo, whose Donald M. Kendall Sculpture Gardens, dotted with Modern and contemporary works, are not to be missed.
