An aquatic exercise experience

Those who have taken water aerobics or simply worked out in the pool know what a productive, fun experience it can be.

With our August issue devoted to stories about sports, recreation, exercise and relaxation, it seems a fitting time to put the spotlight on the Aquatic Gymnasium.

Just listen to how this unique exercise spa system is described by Hammacher Schlemmer:

“This is the exercise spa that enables up to five people to work out in a soothing, low-impact environment. The spa has two river jets that generate 785 gallons per minute of resistance that people can walk or jog against, toning muscles and soothing sore joints without the strain caused by running on land. Handlebars on the side of the spa allow you to tone legs by swimming in place while and an internal seat enables you to tone arms by ‘rowing’ or other arm movements under water. A study published by The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research showed that osteoarthritis patients displayed reduced joint pain and improved balance, function and mobility due to aquatic exercise.”

In addition, the spa’s water currents “adjust to different levels for customizing resistance during different routines. Its integrated heating system provides a perfect temperature for exercising or relaxing in the spa and the four cup holders provide convenient spots for storing after-workout beverages.”

The system ($10,000) comes with The Hammacher Schlemmer Lifetime Guarantee at no additional charge.
