We at WAG are big nature lovers, so we’re more than happy to spread the word about the Bankwell for Good Pet Adoption Project.
The New Canaan-based community bank, with other locations throughout Fairfield County, recently launched an initiative to stir awareness about the many cats and dogs living in shelters throughout Fairfield and New Haven counties. Through the month of May, you’ll find information about available cats and dogs at all of Bankwell’s branches, as well as online.
We took a peek at the website and were delighted to see that quite a few animals have found homes through this program.
Pet Pantry Warehouse, a family-owned pet product retailer with locations in Fairfield and Westchester counties, is providing complimentary gift baskets for the homes of any pet adopted through the program. For those who adopt a dog, Canine Training & Behavioral Services in Wilton is offering a complimentary 30-minute consultation.
And if adoption isn’t a possibility, the bank is also collecting items for the Connecticut Humane Society, a nonprofit providing shelter to thousands of homeless animals each year. Each branch is serving as a collection point for the following – cat, dog and small animal toys; new or gently used, machine-washable towels, blankets and bedding; two gallon zip-lock bags; new litter boxes; paper towels; adult cat and dog food, canned or dry; and cat and dog treats.
Bankwell branches are located in New Canaan, Stamford, Fairfield, Wilton, Norwalk, Hamden and North Haven.
