Celebrating King in performance

Monday, Jan. 16 marks the official celebration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. (He was actually born Jan. 15, 1929 in Atlanta.) There are numerous cultural events planned for Monday to honor the slain civil rights leader. Among those are African and African-American storytelling performances by jazz vocalist Eshu Bumpus. The 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. shows are part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Family Day at the Bruce Museum, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
