Children’s hours

The Westchester Children’s Museum (WCM) will bring a range of activities – from a fantasy-themed scavenger hunt to outdoor arts and crafts – to the second annual Edith G. Read Sanctuary Fall Fest 2013 in Rye on Oct. 19. WCM – which is in the midst of a $10 million capital campaign to create a permanent site at Playland Amusement Park in Rye – will provide a sneak preview of the type of creativity that has come to define WCM’s vision for children’s activity and programming. Events will be coordinated as part of WCM’s Museum Without Walls.

This will mark the WCM’s second year participating in the family event, which drew 1,500 people to the 179-acre park last year. In addition to the WCM Kids’ Corner, the all-ages festival will feature storytelling, a live birds of prey demonstration, music, face painting and more. This year’s event is sponsored by L.L. Bean and Whole Foods of Port Chester.

The festival will run from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $10; $5 for children. Free parking will be available. (No dogs please.)
