‘Face’ time with Pietro Simone

To celebrate the arrival of his skincare products at neimanmarcus.com, Pietro Simone recently held a Zoom call with WAG and other members of the press to demonstrate the lymphatic drainage technique he and his staff use in his five spas worldwide, including one at The Greenwich Hotel in Manhattan and the flagship in London.

In the September issue of WAG we introduce you to Pietro Simone (Si MON nay), the ebullient Italian skincare specialist. and his Essential and Prestige collections, just now available at neimanmarcus.com and soon at its stores.

“The two different collections, Essential and Prestige, are based on different skin concerns,” he told us. “The Essential Collection is the ‘must-have’ for your skin maintenance — hydration, nourishment, antioxidants, water-binding properties, revitalization and daily support, while Prestige is an intense anti-aging collection that’s targeted for skin in need of more advanced technologies. It is fundamental to the anti-aging process and improving the skin’s texture. The two collections can be combined together without any problem.”

Both use his Italian Bella Complex:

“• Cold pressed, filtered tomato seed oil lipoactives, sensory selected from Puglia, which have the ability to neutralize the effects of free radicals and improve skin tonicity;

  • Annurca apple extracted from the volcanic region of Vesuvio, which has anti-fatigue, anti-stress properties and reactivates the skin’s natural defenses. It also has an anti-glycation action and helps to brighten the complexion and even out skin tone;
  • Tuscan grapeseed oil, which is rich in beta-carotene, vitamins C, D, E and essential fatty acids (EFAs) and is a potent anti-wrinkle combater;
  • Edelweiss merestamatic cell cultures sourced from the Alps of northern Italy, which possess anti-oxidizing and anti-aging properties that protect against photo-aging and environmental aggressors, while lifting and firming the skin. Edelweiss is also known to promote collagen production;
  • Vinacciolo oil, sourced from the abundant agricultural Tuscany region and Sicilian almond oil, which extensively nourish and smooth the skin.”

To celebrate the arrival of his products at Neiman Marcus, Pietro recently held a Zoom call with WAG and other members of the press to demonstrate the lymphatic drainage technique he and his staff use in his five spas worldwide, including one at The Greenwich Hotel in Manhattan and the flagship in London’s fashionable Belgravia neighborhood, which served as the backdrop for the conference call. While Pietro now makes London his home, he and his products are never far from Italy and the big Italian family whose women and beauty rituals inspired his life’s work.

“I’ve always loved beauty, and I’ve always loved the science of beauty,” he said on the Zoom call. And he translated that love to us as he demonstrated the proper technique for massaging the face, neck and décolletage.

Beginning with his face oil – or, he said, a face oil of your own choosing – rub it between your palms and press gently on the solar plexus, working your way out to the collar bone.

Sweep the right hand up the left side of the neck and the left hand up the right side of the neck.

Using the second and third fingers of the right hand, “scissor” the left jaw line, “dragging” your way gently up the cheek. Repeat on the opposite side with the left hand.

Pinch and lift the tip of the nose, opening the sinuses. Press under the eyes,, working your way from the inner area to the outer. Apply little pinches to the eyebrows.

We tried this technique – which Pietro said you can use once to three times a week – and felt lifted and firmer immediately.

We can’t wait for Pietro to come to New York to demonstrate it in person for us.
