‘Fall’ing for fashion at Bloomie’s

Bloomingdale’s White Plains celebrates the stylish warrior woman in all of us.

It’s been a busy time at Bloomingdale’s White Plains, with its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month fundraising campaign, “Give Pink, Get More,” in full swing, along with key retail promotions.

We dropped by for the breakfast celebrating Gucci in the shoe department on Thursday, then did Pink Yoga with Jodi Hurwitz of Life Time Athletic in White Plains. More about that in a bit.

Saturday was also the day of the Max Mara luncheon/fashion show, featuring key Weekend Max Mara looks for fall. The pantsuit is back, while plaids, layered shawls and scarves, and tassel and asymmetrical statement necklaces remain hot.

MM is, of course, always about its coats, and these did not disappoint, including a double wool forest green number and one in reversible pink and oatmeal, always a crowd pleaser.

The highlight of the day, however, was doing yoga with Hurwitz and seeing her looking and sounding healthy and happy. Before she led last year’s Pink Yoga class, she told us that she was in the early stages of breast cancer and began to cry. This year, having undergone a bilateral mastectomy that left some “gnarly scars” and still taking Tamoxifen, she was in warrior woman mode, hitting “This Is Me” and “Fight Song” on her playlist as we got down with downward dog.

Cost of a Max Mara coat – more than $800. Seeing Jodi bounce back? Priceless.
