Fashioning spring

Bloomingdale’s White Plains anticipates a new season with hot looks.

“Maybe if we wear our spring clothes, spring will come,” fashion blogger Simone Piliero suggested.

Fat chance. But we can dream, can’t we? On St. Patrick’s Day, Bloomindale’s White Plains anticipated the arrival of spring today with its “Hot Yes” fashion show featuring pieces from its annual exclusive 100% campaign. Piliero, who writes a blog at simplybysimone.com, and Rania Papaioannou, whose fashion blog is at raniaontherun.com, were the hosts for looks that made much of pastels, particularly lilac, a Pantone-highlighted color that Simone said is the new pink for millennials. (Rania sported a lilac pantsuit – yes the pantsuit/power suit is back – while Simone wore an aqua one.) Other trends included yellow – wear a mustard variation and head to Italy, Rania suggested – vertical, multicolored stripes; and florals, of course.

Rania and Simone – who apparently had just met – nonetheless seemed to have an easy Tara and Johnny-style chemistry, bonding over their most outrageous outfits/purchases. (For Rania, it was shorts and a flowing top imitating the Spice Girls’ style when she was growing up; for Simone, a pair of gold Gucci mules.)

Who knows? This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
