Flower power

A stylish night celebrating Valmont and Naeem Khan.

It was a most stylish night as fashion designer Naeem Khan and luxury Swiss beauty line Valmont joined forces for some fashion, floral art, fragrance and fun at La Maison Valmont flagship in Manhattan’s Carlyle hotel April 22. The fashion and floral art were provided by Khan, who charted his life story during a fireside chat with Sarah Gargano, whose Sarah Gargano Communications represents Valmont, a skincare and fragrance company based in Geneva. Born and raised in Mumbai, Khan was inspired to become a fashion designer by his father and grandfather, who created clothes for Indian royals, and by Halston, for whom he worked when he came to New York in the intoxicating, Studio 54 days of the late 1970s. The Big Apple was also where Khan took drawing lessons from Andy Warhol, whose floral art has inspired his own.

Both Khan’s art and couture – whose textured, metallic designs reflect his Indian origins – were on display, as was Valmont’s Just Bloom, whose white floral notes include lily of the valley and gardenia.
