October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which has got Bloomingdale’s White Plains thinking pink. At 8:30 a.m. this Saturday, Oct. 3, before the store opens, I’ll be among those doing yoga with Here & Now Yoga + Body to raise money for the Marisa Acocella Marchetta Foundation, which aids uninsured and underinsured breast cancer patients and survivors, and The Carey Foundation benefitting The Tutu Project, which provides support to breast cancer patients, survivors and their families. The event is $10, which includes a branded pink yoga mat and a pink gift bag while supplies last. You can register at bloomingdalesyoga.eventbrite.com.
Then on Oct. 15 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., it’s “Pink Night Out at the Beauty Bar” at Bloomie’s. If you’ve never been to one of these, it’s tons of fun, with hors d’oeuvres, bubbly, handsome waiters, a DJ and a gift bag. Your $25 registration fee goes toward your beauty purchase, with 10 percent of tracked sales benefitting White Plains Hospital’s Cancer Program. Email Stephany.firstname.lastname@example.org.
