Intenso… We’d have to agree

We have received the scoop on the new men’s fragrance from Dolce&Gabbana and feel it only right to share, especially considering that Colin Farrell is the star of its ad campaign.

It was, we admit, the smoldering looks of that sexy Irishman (one of WAG’s favorite actors) that first drew our attention to this new scent, which makes its official debut in March.

Turns out it’s been 20 years since the launch of Pour Homme, Dolce&Gabbana’s first male fragrance. Since the start, as the press materials share, the fragrances have been said to personify the “Dolce&Gabbana man through scent.”

As further explained, “Today Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana present a modern reinterpretation of this man, accentuating his character and depth with the new fragrance Intenso. Intenso is pure instinct, the power of an emotion that is freely expressed. It is the force of a determined man, with a heart that is rooted in tradition, yet revels in the modern world. Intenso ideally represents the new generation of Dolce&Gabbana men, who live in the present and express their emotions with freedom and intensity.”

Sounds like Mr. Farrell, no?

As Domenico Dolce says, “Colin epitomizes all aspects of the Intenso man. His physicality is commanding and his eyes have depth and are full of life. As an actor and man, he perfectly represents strength, tenderness and allure, the qualities that we envisioned for the male of our new fragrance.”

Intenso is described as:

“a woody aromatic fragrance that opens with luminous Aquatic notes and green accents of Basil and Lavender. Its profound appeal is defined by a brand new discovery in the olfactory world: the Moepel accord, which has been re-created from the flowers and leaves of the Milkwood tree using Headspace technology. The Moepel accord gives the signature and character to the scent, enveloping it with luxurious floral, balsamic, and honey accents. The tobacco masculinity is further defined with soft dry notes from Absolutes of Hay and Bran. Intensity and strength come from the profound combination Labdanum, Sandalwood and Cypress. A contrast of fresh, warm and rich completes the composition of the fragrance and emphasizes its woody charm.”

The print campaign was shot by noted American photographer Mark Seliger, while the television campaign was directed by Paolo Sorrentino, an Academy Award-winning film director (“The Great Beauty”).

The 200ml bottle of Dolce&Gabbana Pour Homme Intenso will sell for $122. In addition to the fragrance options, the line will include shower gel, aftershave lotion and a deodorant stick. Dolce&Gabbana Intenso will be available at select luxury retailers.
