KuKuRuZa mixes up the popcorn tradition

Forget the mass-produced, glowing orange popcorn found in most holiday tins. KuKuRuZa Gourmet Popcorn offers a handcrafted spin direct from Seattle.

Soon, we’ll start seeing those giant tins of popcorn that suddenly appear around the holiday season, perhaps most notable for their predictable flavors, including that glowing orange cheese.

Sure, they might be inexpensive and crowd-pleasing, but for those wanting something more refined, shall we say, KuKuRuZa Gourmet Popcorn is at the ready.

WAG recently received a sampling of the snack handcrafted in Seattle, its company named after what it says is the Russian word for corn.

We received flavors that included the company’s best-selling Hawaiian Salted Caramel, Seattle Style (espresso) and Truffle Fromage Porcini. See, we told you this was not your everyday popcorn.

Also included were special-edition holiday flavors of Peppermint Cocoa, Gingerbread Cookie and Eggnog Brandy.

Let’s just say we had many WAG staffers sampling from the bags throughout the day – and with more than 15 flavors to choose from, the KuKuRuZa roster seems to have something for most every taste. And for those who support farm-to-table products, KuKuRuZa notes its corn is grown on a family farm in Washington State and crafted into the gourmet product right in Seattle.
