Lip-smacking ‘Maccs’

The WAG staff recently sampled a new twist on the classic treat – milk-, dark- and white-chocolate dipped macaroons.

Sometimes a sweet treat is the best midday pick-me-up for a long day at the office. When a box of goodies from FreshBakedNY showed up at our front door, WAG’s staff was delighted to find an assortment of Michelle’s Maccs in 13 different flavor combinations.

Michelle’s Maccs put a twist on the classic coconut macaroon. Drenched in Belgian chocolate, the decadent pastries come in a variety of flavors, including classic dark, milk, and white chocolate in addition to more unique flavors like banana walnut, key lime and peanut butter. While indulging in a chocolate dipped cookie may not seem like the healthiest option, the treats are in fact eggless, flourless and gluten-free.

We received a box of 12 flavors in addition to a handy to-go tube of piña colada macaroons (perfect to throw in a lunch box when the kids are back to school). They were a nice change in pace from the communal cake that occasionally appears in our office. With a satisfying crunch through a thick chocolate layer followed by sweet and chewy coconut, each individual flavor shone through without overpowering the traditional taste of a macaroon. The treats even impressed our editor-in-chief, who isn’t typically a macaroon person yet still enjoyed Michelle’s Maccs.
