Offering (first) season’s greetings

WAG country, via the Tappan Zee Bridge, has gotten a bit more stylish since the Simon Property Group opened The Shops at Nanuet last month.

And the new open-air shopping center in Rockland County, a revamp of the former Nanuet Mall, is about to kick off its first holiday season in high style.

Family activities and entertainment, capped by a tree-lighting ceremony, are planned for Nov. 17.

Activities will get under way starting at 2 p.m. when guests will find characters in holiday costumes, face painters, balloon artists and circus acts. There will also be interactive stations featuring the Amazing Grace Circus and strolling singers from the Harmony on Hudson chorus.

More than 37,000 twinkling lights will come alive with a tree-lighting ceremony that starts at 6. The program will feature performances by local artists, including the Lower Hudson Valley Youth Chorus and The Temple Dudes, followed by Columbia Records’ recording artist Judith Hill, who was featured in the recent film, “20 Feet From Stardom.”

The Shops at Nanuet, a 750,000-square-foot center, offers shopping, dining, fitness and filmgoing activities. Anchor department stores Macy’s and Sears are joined by shops including Coach, Michael Kors, J. Crew, Vera Bradley, J.Jill, Sur La Table and Soma Intimates. A Fairway Market, restaurants and a Regal Cinemas will be joined next month by 24-Hour Fitness.
