On-the-go glam

Blo Greenwich is the newest blow-dry bar to open on Greenwich Avenue, offering a menu of styles.

I willingly treated myself to a hair pampering session at Blo Blow Dry Bar in Greenwich.

And it was both glamorous – and much needed.

There are some 100 locations nationwide, with Blo Greenwich being the chain’s second store in Connecticut, located on Greenwich Avenue. Owned by Bruce and Marianne Hammer, a husband and wife team, the salon is a way for busy gals to get glam without any hassles.

The salon, which is adorned with charming pink accents, offers a variety of blow bar services, from a traditional blowout (starting at $45) with seven signature styles, a blow out with bonded extensions ($55/60) and an up do a la carte ($65/75), for which clients can request any style of their choosing. The seven signature styles, each with a fun, flirty name, cover a range of tastes, including high society (a classic up do), pillow talk (messy beach waves), red carpet (a voluminous, wavy finish), go fish (a fishtail braid), holly would (voluminous curl and bounce), executive sweet (ultra-straight) and hunt club (the perfect ponytail with a wavy or sleek option).

As someone who straightens her hair often, I opted for the pillow talk and was certainly pleased. Stylist Lauren Beeman, who’s been in the beauty industry for 10 years, gave me an entirely different look that lasted – and lasted and lasted. (Let’s just say, she’ll be seeing me there more often.)
