Parties with purpose

A pair of local nonprofit organizations will host benefit events June 11:

  • The Glass House in New Canaan will host its annual Summer Party from noon to 4 p.m. The event will feature a picnic by The Schoolhouse at Cannondale in Wilton; sound by Chez Conversations and music by DJ Mia Moretti; and classic lawn games, including croquet and Ping-Pong. Design Within Reach will offer a photo booth and invites participants to relax in one of its Eos Lounge Chairs. Visitors can also enjoy a glass of Taittinger Champagne and experience current exhibitions “Yayoi Kusama: Narcissus Garden” and “Robert Rauschenberg: Spreads and Related Works,” or simply roam freely across the 49-acre grounds. Tickets may be purchased until June 8.
  • The New Castle Historical Society will host its inaugural “Clambake in Greeley’s Garden” from 5 p.m. until sunset. The family-friendly party includes dinner, music, “garden karaoke,” seasonal games, raffles and a silent auction. The dinner will include a choice of lobster or chicken served with clams, mussels, corn on the cob, steamed potatoes, watermelon, salad, wine and beer. A children’s option includes hot dogs and hamburgers. Reservations are requested by June 3.
