Performance earns raves

WAG’s November issue – which will put the spotlight on “Voices” – includes a profile of Victoria Lynn Socci.

The South Salem singer-dancer-actress is making her way toward Broadway in a career that’s starting to kick into high gear.

I’ve written about Socci for our “What’s New” feature and think you’ll enjoy hearing her story, one filled with determination.

And that drive has led her to Peoria, Ariz., where she’s starring through Nov. 10 as Tracy Turnblad in Arizona Broadway Theatre’s production of “Hairspray.”

Already, the show has snagged some pretty impressive reviews.

Gil Benbrook, in a regional review for Talkin’ Broadway, praised Socci, saying in part “Her singing, dancing and especially her acting are top notch.”

And David Appleford of 99.9 FM KEZ, which is billed as “Phoenix’s Best Variety of Music,” notes, “With boundless ebullience, from the moment she jumps out of bed, right up until that final bow, Victoria’s energy level never drops.”

Sounds like Socci’s well on the way to making her own voice heard.
