Rock on

Here’s a clever concert for people who enjoy tribute bands and participatory shows like “American Idol.”

In “Rock Legends,” an unusual revue created by Billy McGuigan, audiences are given the opportunity to customize their own rock concert as the show is happening. The concert, which takes place Nov. 23 at Westchester Community College’s Academic Arts Theatre in Valhalla, is the first performance of a three-part series called, “Of Musical  Note.”

Throughout the evening, audiences are given an opportunity to vote on different aspects of a concert, creating an intimate opening or a chance to support favorite performers ranging from Elton John and Billy Joel to Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley to The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

“ ‘Rock Legends’ will take spectators on an audio ride through rock history with legendary ballads by Billy Joel, Elvis Presley, Elton John and more without folks having to leave the comfort of their own seats except for the contagious urge to boogie down.” (The Huntsville Times)

The performance is at 8 p.m. Single tickets are $22; $20 for students and senior citizens and $16 for children under age 13. Tickets can be purchased a half-hour before the scheduled performance time.  For online credit card purchases, visit sunywcc.edu/SmartArts and click on the “Buy Tickets” link.
