The scent of love

Italian perfumer Il Profvmo’s creates a perfume inspired by William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

The pursuit of romance is the muse behind Il Profvmo’s newest fragrance.

Lysander – inspired by the rebellious romantic in William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” embodies purity, modern love and an ode to springtime. The sensuous scent carries fresh, woodsy undertones, reminiscent of Lysander’s journey through the play’s forest setting as well as his evergreen experiences with love.

Top notes include vibrant water mint with hearth notes of rich juniper berries and base notes of exotic Java vetiver. The fragrance retails for $200 for 100ml and $150 for 50ml.

But that’s not all. Created in honor of the company’s 20th anniversary – and as an ode to the Bard – Il Profvmo is offering a special bottle to contain the Lysander elixir. Limited to just 50 pieces worldwide, the bottle is a modern, angular design, handcrafted by Murano glassworkers. The vibrant emerald shade suggests Lysander’s vigorous pursuit of love.

The glass artwork is the second in a trilogy that reflects the stages of love, as depicted by Shakespeare. Available exclusively at Il Profvmo boutiques, it retails for $3,800.
