Finnish fashion in focus

Designed to coincide with New York Fashion Week, the Rizzoli flagship in Manhattan has unveiled a window installation in tribute to Marimekko, the iconic Finnish fashion firm.

The windows have been designed to celebrate Marimekko’s past and present, featuring four modern dresses from the company’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection. Anna Teurnell, who came on as Marimekko’s creative director in 2014, designed the dresses, two of which sport archival prints from the 1950s. Coordinating fashion and home accessories round out the display, with all the showcased items available this spring at the Marimekko flagship, at 200 Fifth Ave.

In addition to the display, Rizzoli will be featuring “Marimekko: In Patterns” and “Marimekko – Fabrics, Fashion, Architecture,” two books that explore the company’s history.

The window installation will continue through Feb. 22 at Rizzoli,1133 Broadway.
