Happy New Year!

The Pelham Art Center will once again celebrate the Chinese New Year, hosting an event from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 28.

Commemorating the Year of the Sheep (or Goat or Ram, depending on what you read), the program will include a paper-craft workshop followed by the centerpiece, the performance of a traditional Lion Dance.

In Chinese culture, the dance – which will feature Kwan’s Kung Fu of Peekskill – is believed to scare away evil spirits and bring good luck.

Part of the center’s Folk Art Series, the event is free and open to all ages.

The Pelham Art Center is at 155 Fifth Ave.
