Healing through fitness

Bloomindale’s White Plains continues its Breast Cancer Awareness exercise programs this Saturday and next.

It was a most powerful Pink Yoga event at Bloomingdale’s White Plains to kick off its Breast Cancer Awareness Month exercise programs last Saturday as the instructor revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer back in March. It was an emotional moment but one that demonstrated the healing power of yoga as we centered ourselves, focusing on the breath while we moved from pose to pose and radiated good energy to our teacher and those around us. All in all, it was an unexpected moment but yoga teaches you to accept and work with the experience in front of you.

Tomorrow, Oct. 13, Bloomie’s offers a different kind of class with Orangetheory Fitness, a total body workout encompassing endurance, strength and power, the core foundations of the Orangetheory routine.

Then on Saturday, Oct. 20, it’s all about getting fit with Everlast Boxing.

In each case, your $10 reservation fee will benefit The Carey Foundation and the Marisa Acocella Foundation. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and class starts at 9 a.m. Visit pinkotfwhiteplains.eventbrite.com to reserve your spot for Orangetheory, which will be held on the third floor near Intimates, and pinkboxingwhiteplains.eventbrite.com to reserve your spot for Everlast Boxing.
