Planning your luxe Mother’s Day

Dads and kiddies, here are some suggestions for making mom’s day special.

This is a heck of a weekend, what with the “Garden Art & Antiques Fair” on through Sunday, May 6 at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx and the Kentucky Derby set for Saturday, May 5, at Churchill Downs with Justify the favorite.

Still, it’s never too early to start thinking about one of WAG’s favorite holidays. We’re talking Mother’s Day, May 13, of course. And while an impromptu breakfast in bed with handmade cards and gifts is always fun, you’re going to have to strategize a bit more – OK, a lot more – if you’re going to go luxe. Here are a few ideas that have caught our eye for the mom – or mother figure – in your life:

First, we are loving Landeau’s Mère bouquet – 35 or 25 fresh-cut, hand-tied pastel Ecuadorian roses wrapped in tissue in a signature hatbox with an internal vase and a handwritten greeting on high-quality custom stationery. The catch? Landeau only delivers to select major cities. But if mom’s at the office or vacationing in NYC, we say, Go for it. This particular bouquet is available only May 6 through 13. $189. givelandeau.com.

If you want something like this and don’t live in the designated cities, check out Saaya Roses, which has a greater range of offerings and prices. Code “MOM” gets you 20 percent off through May 20. saayarose.com.

Tiffany is always a fab Mother’s Day choice. This year, why not try to get mom into the iconic Fifth Avenue emporium’s Blue Box Café, then present her with a blue box of her own, filled with the Tiffany Charms “Mom” heart tag in 18-karat gold with a diamond? tiffany.com.

While perfume is a wonderful idea, why not go one better and buy mom a truly special vessel for her fave fragrance? Lalique has lots of lovely bottles from which to choose. We are particularly enamored of the Clairefontaine perfume bottle in clear and midnight crystal. $525. lalique.com.

Former WAG cover guy Jean-Georges Vongerichten has a scrumptious offering for moms – his single-origin chocolate confections in raspberry rose, yuzu, hazelnut praline, pistachio, peanut and hibiscus, and kirsch cordial in handsome boxes of 24 or 12. The Limited Edition Mother’s Day chocolates are available for pick up at Jean-Georges or The Inn at Pound Ridge May 10 through 13. jean-georges.com.

Now that you’ve got the flowers, chocolates, perfume and jewelry thing sort of sorted out, where to take mom? The Delamar hotels in Greenwich, Southport and now Hartford have a variety of offerings, not the least of which are their terrific spas. At the Delamar Greenwich Harbor May 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., mother and daughter Jill Stuart and Morgan Curtis will have a pop-up shop of pajamas, lingerie and swimwear from their Morgan Lane brand. And check out the compacts from Charles Mallory, the hotels’ owner. They make stylish mementoes of your Delamar stay. delamar.com.

The Ritz-Carlton New York, Westchester in White Plains is another good choice for a spa day or overnight stay. What we love about The Ritz is its Mother’s Day Tea Service with homemade scones and jams, savory sandwiches and sweet treats. $85; $45 for children. Reservations: 914-467-5717; ritzcarlton.com.

Since mom is always on the go – and Mother’s Day weekend will be no different – how about a fun, practical extra? Panty Fresh includes undies, a panty liner, a hygienic wipe and a discreet wash-me bag for life’s unpredictable moments. Enter code “ILOVEMOM20” for the two for $20 offer. pantyfresh.com.
