Promoting young talent

Barbara Galazzo is putting the spotlight on the next generation of artists this month.

The Cold Spring-based fused-glass artist and owner of Gallery 66 NY in the village put a call out to a number of area high schools, seeking emerging artists to submit work for a juried exhibition.

Well, the response was great, and the results are on view through Feb. 2. There are 20 featured artists from five schools who are showing their multimedia works in “Roots and Pathways.” The works reflect the show’s themes, as they relate to the artists’ personal lives, histories and visions for the future.

Galazzo says the show, in addition to the exposure, will also offer the young artists the chance to exhibit in a commercial gallery and build their résumés as well as help some as they work toward art school.

Gallery 66 NY is at 66 Main St. in Cold Spring. For more, call (845) 809-5838 or visit gallery66ny.com.
