Say ‘I do’ to this exhibition

I can still remember the charm of the last exhibition I saw at The Horace Greeley House in Chappaqua. I went up to see “Downton Chappy — Costumes of the ‘Downton Abbey’ Era” late last year, and it was just lovely.

Over the years, I’ve come to realize the New Castle Historical Society always does a great job with the varied exhibitions it offers in its headquarters.

That’s why I am now looking forward to stopping in to see “Here Comes The Bride.”

The newest exhibit features an array of wedding gowns both from the society’s costume collection and others on loan from friends of the organization. There is a custom-made Vera Wang gown worn by actress-singer Vanessa Williams (who grew up locally), as well as a gown from the Gibson Girl era,

a tea-length wedding ensemble and a lace-embellished 1970s gown, among many others. The exhibit also includes facts about wedding traditions.

The exhibition will continue into mid-January and can be viewed from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (or by appointment). The society is at 100 King St.
