Cold Spring will once again be a most fashionable destination.
Barbara Galazzo of Gallery 66 NY has sent along details of a very stylish undertaking soon to take over the village.
Let me share her words:
“Gallery 66 NY is pleased and excited to announce its second annual Cold Spring ‘Fashion as Art’ event. One of the special features is a juried gallery exhibition of fashion-inspired art, comprised of multimedia entries submitted by high school and college students, as well as regional artists.
‘Fashion as Art II’ will also include a fashion show, highlighting creations by our local high school students. This year’s original creations will take as their theme the various looks of ‘Art through the Ages.’
We are thrilled to have Kelly Cutrone as both mentor and ‘fashion consultant’ to these young artists. Ms. Cutrone — owner of the fashion public relations firm, People’s Revolution — is familiar to virtually everyone for her role in ‘America’s Next Top Model,’ as well as MTV’s ‘True Life,’ ‘Dr. Phil,’ and ‘The Hills’ and ‘The City.’
In addition to acting as a juror for the art exhibition, she will be guiding our young artists in all aspects of staging a fashion show, from styling and design, to creation, to management and modeling. Ms. Cutrone will be assisted by several fashion and makeup experts, to ensure a top-flight event, as well as a memorable experience for our young people. Again, college students and local artists are encouraged to submit their creations for consideration as well. This year, we are looking forward to an outdoor fashion show, if the weather gods permit!
We are fortunate to have as our second juror for the artwork, Carla Goldberg, director of New York City’s prestigious Skylight Gallery, as well as the Bau Gallery of Beacon. She sits on the Council of the International Coalition of Artists, and the Committee for the Women’s Caucus for the Arts. Ms. Goldberg’s artworks have been exhibited in museums, universities, and galleries, both in the United States and abroad.
‘Fashion as Art II’ will run from June 6 to 27, with an opening reception to be held from 6 to 9 p.m. June 6 at Gallery 66 NY, 66 Main St.
The Fashion show will conclude the wearable portion of the exhibit on June 22nd. Come partake in what promises to be an exciting month of unusual exhibits and events!”
