The holiday we love

Valentine’s Day holds a special place in WAG Weekly’s heart. Romance, chocolates, flowers, presents – what’s not to love? Add that it falls on a weekend this year, and we are enraptured.

You could say that Valentine’s Day is a halcyon day, so cue the segue to Halcyon Days. This haute Brit company, which holds any number of royal warrants, is famous for its enamel bracelets and boxes as well as tea sets and other gift items. Just in time for V Day, R & M Woodrow Jewelers in Rye – which has a lovely display of Halcyon Days bangles and candles – has received a number of the company’s Skinny Heart Gold bangles, whose colors range from cream through turquoise, orange and red to deep cobalt blue and black. The coordinating, ropy enclosures adjust to any wrist. The bangle retails for $135. For more, visit Woodrow Jewelers at 21 Purchase St., call the store at 914-908-4240 or click on to http://www.halcyondaysusa.com/accessories/friendship-bangles.html.

Meanwhile, the staff of Alex Soldier – whose sculptural metal designs have long been WAG favorites – has gotten in touch with their own offerings for V Day. Among them are the snail ring in 18-karat gold and silver with diamonds and signature metalwork ($1,950); the Coronaria flower pin in 18-karat gold and silver with citrine and black spinel ($1,900); and cuffs in 24-karat gold and silver with signature metalwork. All are handmade at Alex Soldier in Manhattan.

But what if friendship and amour have progressed to commitment? It might be the right moment for the Tiffany Setting engagement ring. It was in 1886 that Tiffany & Co. founder Charles Lewis Tiffany created an innovated prong design that elevated its exquisitely cut solitaire above the platinum band, showing off its brilliance. Today, the company celebrates the 130th anniversary of the innovation with its I WILL advertising campaign that emphasizes its special craftsmanship. Prices start from $12,600. A marvelous twist – the Tiffany Setting with diamond band (from $15,000).
