Westport Country Playhouse announces play-reading lineup

The readings include “You Know I Can’t Hear You When the Water’s Running” and “Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure.”

Westport Country Playhouse is prepared to charm its audiences with its “Script in Hand” play-reading lineup for November and December.

Directed by Anne Keefe, associate and curator of the series, the schedule includes Robert Anderson’s comic “You Know I Can’t Hear You When the Water’s Running,” on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., and Stephen Dietz’s thriller “Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure,” on Dec. 11 at 7 p.m.

“You Know I Can’t Hear You When the Water’s Running,” which bowed on Broadway in 1967, is a compilation of four one-act plays that revolve around sex and the emotions that shape relationships.

“Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure,” inspired by the original 1899 play by William Gillette and Arthur Conan Doyle, follows one of the world’s most noted detectives, who despite being at the end of his career – and his life as the play opens – decides to take on a case against his archnemesis.

Tickets are $20. Westport Country Playhouse is at 25 Powers Court in Westport. For more, visit westportplayhouse.org.
