Galleries hop into Westport

Contemporary art will be in the spotlight June 23-25 in Westport.

Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan, often featured in WAG, has shared the details of an arts event to be held June 23 to 25 in Westport.

Presented by Silvermine and Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County, the CT contemporary art fair will put the spotlight on today’s gallery scene.

“This first-of-its-kind event brings together galleries from all over the state to give a broader understanding of Connecticut’s gallery landscape and provide an opportunity for people to encounter galleries they might not usually have the chance to see,” said event co-organizer Jeffrey Mueller, gallery director of the Silvermine Arts Center. “There is an ever-growing contemporary art-gallery scene in the state. We wanted to highlight and celebrate that, and we plan to make CT contemporary an annual event.”

Hours will be noon to 8 p.m. June 23 and 24 and noon to 5 p.m. June 25. All are invited to a reception that will feature artists and gallerists from 5 to 7 p.m. June 24. All events will be held at Bedford Square on Church Lane in the new town center.

The event marks the conclusion of the three-part “Cultivating Collectors” series organized by Silvermine and the Alliance.
