Kathleen’s Tea Room gets Super Bowl bid

Kathleen’s Tea Room in Peekskill is going to Super Bowl XLVIII.

Seem out of character? Well, it’s really not.

The English-style tearoom in Peekskill has been tapped by Business Connect and Party Planners West to be one of the caterers for a VIP Tailgate Party being held Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium.

Kathleen’s, owned by Vivian C. McKenzie since 2010, will serve 1,500 miniature blueberry pies to an audience expected to include NFL professionals, coaches, families and other “high-profile” guests.

For those who don’t make it to the VIP event, McKenzie says the from-scratch Super Bowl specialty will be served at the tearoom throughout the month of February so everyone can join in the fun.

Oh, and the blueberry? Well, it’s New Jersey’s state fruit.
