Lagond Music School in Elmsford is hosting a series of intimate concerts beginning this Friday, Nov. 2. Kicking off the five-show set of events is Marshall Crenshaw, a singer/songwriter best known for his 1982 Top 40 hit “Someday, Someday,” who will both perform and discuss elements of his film on record producer Tom Wilson.
Following Crenshaw on Nov. 3 is an acoustic performance by David “Dread” Hinds, the founder and principle songwriter of the band Steel Pulse. Steel Pulse was the first non-Jamaican act to win a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.
Scott Kempner, a guitarist, singer and founding member of The Dictators and The Del-Lords, is set to perform on Nov. 9. On Dec. 7, Steve Forbert will perform in support of his recently published memoir, “Big City Cat: My Life in Folk Rock.”
And finally, a panel discussion, “Peeking Behind the Curtain: Rock ’n’ Roll Life on the Road,” will take place Dec. 8, with radio host and moderator Larry Milburn, tour sound engineer Robert “Nite Bob” Czaykowski and tour/production manager Rich Nesin, along with other surprises.
Tickets are available at Eventbrite.com at $40 and $30, and food and drink purchases require a minimum of $15 per person. If you plan to attend multiple shows, series subscriptions are available and include a free drink. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and shows begin at 8.
