Question: With stores already decorated for the holidays, is it too early for seasonal sounds as well as sights?
We say it’s never too early. And apparently fans of Christmas queen Mariah Carey (“All I Want For Christmas Is You”) think so, too.
Chartmetric, the music consumption and fan engagement analytics platform, reports that during the first week of November, engagement with Carey soared on streaming platforms and social media with the release of her new single “Fall in Love at Christmas,” featuring Khalid and Kirk Franklin. Since early November, it has topped one million YouTube views, streaming more than 6.6 million times on Spotify. The song sits at nearly 943 million streams there. Could it top one billion? Between Nov. 1 and 8, Carey’s Spotify monthly listeners increased by 2.14 million to reach 19.8 million monthly listeners.
TikTok likes for Carey jumped 2.6 million on Nov. 1, compared to the previous day, bringing her total TikTok likes to 28.6 million. Carey’s Instagram followers increased by 25,533 on Nov.1, compared to the previous day. And Twitter retweets increased to 116,171 on Nov. 1, compared to just 16,056 on Oct. 31.
Meanwhile, Giada Valenti may not have Carey’s following yet, but the Venetian songstress, who charmed last year with her rendition of “What Child Is This?”, has returned with a bilingual version of “Silent Night/Noche de Paz” that reflects the Las Vegas resident’s life in the United States and global approach.
“This is a 200-year-old German tune, sung by a native Italian and co-arranged by an American, with performances in London and Los Angeles,” she said in a statement. “Performing it in multiple languages was a way to underscore the song’s message while celebrating the blend of cultures that brought this recording to life.”
